SUMMARY:Seminar: Two Problems in Network Probing by Darryl Veitch, The University of Melbourne
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Abstract : <b>Two Problems in Network Probing</b>
\n
\nAbstract:
\nIn this talk I will report on two pieces of recent work in the field of probing
\nbased network measurement.
\n
\nThe first is a topic in multicast based loss tomography. We show for the first
\ntime how temporal properties of link loss processes can be inferred, based on
\nobserved losses at the receiver leaves of a multicast tree. The second
\nconcerns optimal measurement of loss and delay based on probing. We show how,
\nprovided the underlying process being measured obeys a convexity property, that
\nthe optimal probing stream with respect to the sampling problem is 'universal'
\nrather than being a function of the system being probed, and show how the
\noptimal result can be approached in practice.
\n\nHost : François Baccelli and Christophe Diot\nhttp://www.cubinlab.ee.mu.oz.au/~darryl/
LOCATION:Thomson Paris Lab
\n46, Quai A. Le Gallo
\n92648 Boulogne Cedex
\nNearest metro station: "Boulogne Pont de Saint Cloud" (line 10).
\nLook for <a href="http://www.mappy.fr"> directions </a> with mappy.fr.
\n
\nPlease register in advance!
\nAll are welcome to attend the sessions and stay for lunch, but we would like to know in advance to help organizing the event.
\nPlease contact letizia.ballarini@thomson.net or augustin.chaintreau@thomson.net, to announce that you are coming.
\nThank you.
\n
